Accessibility

We want anyone in Viking to be able to order food here, including with a keyboard, a screen reader, or a phone held at arm’s length in a car park.

What we have done

• Every control is reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
• Body text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background. Checked with axe on the home, collection, product, cart, contact and visit pages.
• Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Headings run in order, and landmarks mark the navigation, main content and footer.
• A skip link jumps past the header.
• Product images carry alt text that names the food, not the file.
• Animation is reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
• Nothing important is signalled by colour alone.

Where we are not there yet

• Product photography is currently phone shots taken in the shop. Some are low resolution until the full shoot is done.
• The map on the visit page is an embedded Google map, whose accessibility we do not control.
• Checkout runs on Shopify, so its accessibility is theirs.

Standard

We aim at WCAG 2.2 level AA. Automated testing with axe reports no violations on the pages listed above. Automated testing catches perhaps half of what matters, and we have not had an external audit, so this is a statement of effort, not a certificate.
